The first year Dan and I lived here we lived in an apartment with a Chinese bed. That means we slept on cement. Upon arriving in Beijing, a company driver picked us up from the airport and took us to Carrefour, a French Walmart-like department store. I bought a blue blanket, the soft cotton kind with the tiny wholes in it, to use to sleep on for the night. For a solid year we shared that blanket with no other covers. In the summer we didn't need anything more, and then when winter came our apartment was so HOT from surrounding apartments, that we didn't need anything more either. Then, our second year we moved into the Westin Hotel. Didn't need to buy any blankets that year. This year, our third year, we've moved into a new apartment and we've been sleeping on an air mattress for the last month and 1/2. For the first several weeks, up until a week an a half ago when I finally found a place to buy a silk filled comforter, we've been using the old holy blue blanket. Why didn't you go out and buy another blanket? That's what you're asking. It's not that easy in Beijing. The other night I read this scripture:
Isaiah 28:20 For the bed is shorter than that a man can stretch himself on it: and the covering narrower than that he can wrap himself in it.
And then this from the Old Testament Study Guide produced by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints:
The imagery of the bed and the inadequate covers is more easily understood than the imagery of the plummet. Obviously, if we are not covered by the atoning blood of Jesus Christ, we will find ourself like a man in a bed too short for him with a blanket that is too small to cover him. No matter how appealing sin may look at first, it can never satisfy our inner needs. The sinful person will be ever like the man in a short bed with inadequate covers. He will twist and turn and constantly seek comfort, but he cannot find it. The Atonement of Christ for sin covers, or is efficacious for, only those who trust in God with all their hearts and keep His holy commandments.
And then I showed it to Dan and said, "If there's nothing else from Isaiah that we can understand, at least we've got this analogy down."

ASh-funny post
The year I was pregnant luckily we lived in the Westing. Otherwise it would've been rough.
