Bali

Bali is an Island in Indonesia, just above Austrailia. Indonesia is mostly Muslim, but Bali mostly inhabits Hindu's who eat beef so we were still able to get pork and beef products. We split the week between two resorts in southwest Bali. For those of you familiar with the October 2002 bombings in Bali, that happend in the southwest. Different beaches there have different flavors. Our area was for the more settled tourist. Kuta, where the bombings occurred is for your average hostel hopper. The people who carried out the bombings were Muslim and selected a night club that they thought had a lot of American patrons. It turns out those patrons were Australian. Above is the picture from our first resort looking out onto the beach. Below is a man selling kites on the beach. He wanted $5 for that kite, I found it somewhere else for $2.
